Embedded Software Engineer We are looking for a Software Developer that is a leader and a self-starter.   An individual that thrives in a fast-paced, high-intensity environment.   One that will lead and produce, and engage in all aspects of the Software development lifecycle, including helping to develop and refine Software Quality processes and procedures. Major Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed software functional and design specifications.
  • Design, develop and maintain embedded software.
  • Work closely with hardware team and QA team in developing test plans.
  • Execute test plans and procedures
  • Develop and execute detailed verification plan

Required Skills and Experience:

  • BSEE in Electrical or Computer Engineering, MSEE preferred
  • 2-5 years of experience as an Embedded Software Engineer – medium and complex systems
  • Experience in formal software development methods, networking design and RTOS
  • TCP/IP, UDP, SSL networking protocols experience required.
  • Experience with SEI CMM initiatives, especially within a start-up context a plus.
  • Demonstrable and accomplished Leadership qualities

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with ARM processors and PowerQUICC (Atmel, Freescale. STMicro, etc.) desired
  • 5-10 years of accomplished embedded software design a plus
  • Knowledge of formal methods such as those used in FDA Class II/III;  IEC60601; IEC61508 or best practice processes, such as CMMI, preferred.
  • Experience with VHDL and/or Verilog HDL design environments a plus.

Technical Writer We are seeking a Technical Writer to help our small but growing embedded systems business  in the South Hills of Pittsburgh.  This could be initially a temporary part-time person to work 3 days / week that would evolve into a full-time position with benefits for the right candidate.   Job Responsibilities:

  • A professional writer who designs, writes, creates, maintains, and updates technical documentation
  • This will include summarizing legal and technical documents.
  • Will include assisting in authoring white papers, design specifications, system manuals, and other documents.
  • Take engineering outlines and turn into documentation drafts.
  • Manage Proposal efforts.

Skills / Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Mix of technical and language abilities.
  • A degree or certification in technical communications or a fast learner.

  • Build and repair electronic prototypes.
  • Build wiring harnesses and test fixtures.
